Courtney and Bobby did not ask for this page to be made. I decided to make this donation page because as a mom of a child who has gone through open heart surgery, I know how difficult it is to have to endure. A hospital stay that lengthy is not cheap - even with good insurance. Insurance doesn’t pay for meals or personal needs. Please consider donating to ensure Courtney and Bobby are well fed and that they can go through this long process without worrying about a huge financial burden. The last thing any parent should have to worry about when their newborn baby is sick is finances. 

Their Story:

13 day old Blakeli was released from the hospital after a normal birth. She was sent home with her parents being told she was perfectly healthy. A few days went by and Courtney started to notice Blakeli wasn’t breathing properly and her oxygen levels were low (which was indicated through a Owlet foot monitor). Blakeli’s pediatrician ensured Courtney and Bobby everything was fine and that the monitors aren’t very accurate. Fast forward a couple days - Courtney noticed Blakeli’s breathing had not improved and she was not eating normally. They rushed her to a local hospital where they suspected she was sick with pneumonia. She was transported to Bronson where a heart defect called Total Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Return (TAPVR) was found. Total anomalous pulmonary venous return (TAPVR) is a rare congenital malformation in which all four pulmonary veins do not connect normally to the left atrium. Instead the four pulmonary veins drain abnormally to the right atrium (right upper chamber) by way of an abnormal (anomalous) connection.
 
At only thirteen days old,  Blakeli was airlifted to the University of Michigan where she underwent emergency open heart surgery as soon as she landed in order to save her life. She is now on an ECMO machine which is helping her to survive while her lungs and heart recover. Please send up a prayer to our Good Lord if you can not afford a donation.
