Team ASEE take on Belfast Marathon Relay

Team ASEE take on Belfast Marathon Relay in aid of B Positive and Brody & Cooper.

B Positive
BPOSITIVE is a charity that has been created by a family going through a very difficult period in their life. Their hope is to provide hope and positivity to other families!
Their Story:
At the age of 7 years old our son Adam was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia on the 21.10.19.
He underwent 4 rounds of intense chemotherapy to try and cure his sick blood which was blood group O Positive!
On the 29.02.20 he completed his last chemotherapy, on his 8th birthday in September 2020 he rang the bell to signal end of treatment.
Just over 3 months later he was diagnosed was a relapse of his sick blood.
Having had a total of 10 months in remission.
Our son underwent even more intense chemotherapy under the care of the Belfast team in early 2021. On the 26.04.21 we flew to Manchester and on the 05.05.21 he received a cord blood transplant, taking cells from a British umbilical cord of a baby girl that was born in 2016 and transplanted into his body with the hope of curing him. This transplant would eventually change his blood type from O Positive to B positive. From that day on BPOSITIVE was born. A perspective we now try to use on a daily basis.
Unfortunately in October 2021 we found out Adams transplant wasn’t successful and yet again face the daunting trip back to Manchester for a 2nd cord blood transplant some time in 2022

Brody & Cooper
Two remarkable little Boys, Brody (8) & Cooper (5), are fighting a rare and severe form of muscular dystrophy that is both incurable and life-limiting. But thanks to the diligence of teachers and the expertise of medical professionals, they are making good progress. And hope to do anything we can to help them on their journey.
Their Story:
It all began when Brody’s teacher noticed that he couldn’t get off the floor as quickly as the other children after story time. We took Brody to the doctor and after physio, tests, and a referral to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast and Guys and St Thomas Hospital in London, Brody was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). Six weeks later, Brody’s brother, Cooper, also tested positive for the same incurable disease.
Our lives were changed forever. We know this illness has the potential to end the lives of Brody and Cooper in their childhood.
The family circle communicated with other parents of children with Duchenne about researching experimental treatments and enrolled Brody in a study trial in USA, in the hope of being able to stave off the effects of the disease.
Brody and Cooper’s own fight against DMD then began.
The treatment made such a positive difference to Brody that we registered Cooper for the same research and returned to the US with both boys at the start of this year so they could each receive infusions.

We hope that the money we raise can make an impact on these two brilliant charities, please donate whatever you can afford. Any donation is appreciated!
