Team Amaya — Because No Family Should Face Cancer Alone

About Amaya;
Amaya is the kind of little girl who leaves a lasting impression on everyone she meets. She is an incredible big sister to her little brother and best friend, Saffy, and has the most gentle, caring nature.
She is creative, bright, and sees the world in her own beautiful way through art and painting.
At such a young age, Amaya has already been part of an art exhibition where she chose to donate all proceeds to Challenge a not-for-profit organisation supporting kids with cancer, a reflection of the kindness and compassion she carries despite everything she faces herself, just one of many wonderful traits she has inherited from her mum, Georgia.

About Georgia;
Georgia is one of those people who is always there for others, no matter what she is carrying herself.
As a single mum, she works tirelessly running her own business while raising her beautiful children, doing everything she can to ensure they never go without. She gives every part of herself to her family while still somehow finding the time and energy to check in on others and ask, “How can I help?”
Anyone who knows Georgia knows how selfless, compassionate, and fiercely devoted she is as a mother.

Their Journey So Far;
In 2018, at just 7 months old, Amaya was diagnosed with a large inoperable tectal glioma.
Since then, she has faced more challenges than any child ever should.
Alongside her brain tumour diagnosis, Amaya has also been diagnosed with epilepsy, Level 3 ASD, ADHD, and mild cerebral palsy.

Over the years she has endured surgeries, hydrocephalus, severe headaches, countless medications, ongoing specialist appointments, and an incredibly serious health crisis involving pneumonia and renal failure that required an ICU stay.
Despite everything she has been through, Amaya continues to face each day with remarkable courage, resilience, and light.

Doctors discovered approximately 30% tumour growth, meaning Amaya will now begin a 12-month chemotherapy journey.
While this next chapter will undoubtedly be difficult, her family is holding tightly onto hope that treatment will stabilise the tumour — or hopefully shrink it.
Amaya will undergo surgery for her port insertion on May 27th and begin chemotherapy the very same day.

Why We Are Fundraising;
Georgia is self-employed, which means there are no paid sick days, carers leave, or financial safety nets while supporting Amaya through treatment.
Over the coming months there will be ongoing hospital visits, appointments, treatment days, recovery periods, and times where Georgia simply cannot work because her daughter needs her beside her.

But while life pauses for cancer treatment, everyday expenses unfortunately do not.
Bills, groceries, petrol, travel costs, medications, and the basic costs of raising a family will continue throughout this incredibly difficult season.
This fundraiser has been created on behalf of Georgia and her children to help ease some of the financial pressure over the next 12 months, allowing Georgia to focus on what matters most, being there for Amaya through every step of treatment.

Every donation, no matter the amount, will make a genuine difference to this beautiful family. If you are unable to donate, simply sharing their story means more than words can express.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read about Amaya’s journey and for supporting this incredibly deserving family.
