Teachers Home Project-Teachers Rooted in Their Communities

Teachers Home Project raises funds to help teachers overcome the barrier of up-front closing costs when purchasing a home.
Only 12% of teachers can afford to live within 20 minutes of their schools. Some teachers drive an hour or even two hours every day (one way) to get to work because housing is not affordable near their work. This hardship, on top of being the #1 most burnt-out profession, leaves little doubt why teacher attrition is on the rise. We need to help now.
Here are some statistics updated by Delvin Peck in January 2024:
*Over half of teachers say they will leave teaching sooner than originally planned
*There are 500,000+ fewer educators in the American public school systems post-pandemic
*44% of public schools posted teaching vacancies in early 2022
*43% of educator job postings are going unfilled
*30% of teachers were found to be chronically absent
*Compensation is the #1 reason educators plan to quit their jobs
Teachers Home Project is working to help solve this emergency through assistance with closing costs, rate buy-downs, and community living projects for educators.
We can make a difference for our teachers, students, and communities by enhancing the lives of our educators through home ownership. Home ownership helps build generational wealth and creates a sense of belonging and responsibility to the community. Our students need teachers who feel stable and present. With over half of teachers planning to leave sooner than they originally planned, change needs to happen today!
