Teachers helping the Community

Hi my name is Bill Adkins and I am a teacher at Little River Elementary in South Riding, VA. Years ago I started of tradition of raising money within the community in order to take a group of students Christmas Shopping. On the first day of Winter Break, a group of us get together at a local restaurant for lunch then spend the rest of the day with a the students at the mall. This is by far my favorite day of the year and you can only imagine what it means to the students. Those that don't celebrate Christmas or are unable to attend are discretely given gift cards.

Since the need at Little River is small, I have decided to expand my efforts to a couple of neighboring communities that could really use the help. Your donations will go to help the following efforts.

1. Continuing to help support a small community in Aldie (Although they no longer go to Little River). These kids have become like family to me. I still see them on a regular basis and have become a trusted member of their community.

2. GUILFORD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL in Sterling, VA. Back in April, 14 families from this community were displaced by an apartment fire. 56 residents lost everything they had including their homes. As you can imagine, the road to recovery has been difficult. My goal is to help the students within this community have a Christmas they will remember forever.

3. MARUMSCO HILLS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL in Woodbridge, VA. MHES is a Title 1 school in Prince William County. The Principal, Julie Cuocci, is a dear friend and colleague (former Principal at Little River). She is currently trying to support about 200 students this holiday season and currently has about 77 volunteers. My goal is to ensure that every family that has asked for assistance for their children get something.

I know this is a big ask and your donations are greatly appreciated. I have been fortunate in my life to know some amazing people. You guys have always come through for me and I can't wait to see what we can do this year!!!
