Dear friends, family, and compassionate supporters,

My name is Carlos Ortega Amorin, and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart and a hopeful vision. On January 8th of this year, I lost my beloved mother to suicide — a tragedy that changed me forever and sparked a deep commitment to make a difference in our community.

In her honor, I founded the Te Amo Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to raising awareness about mental health and providing healing spaces for those who are struggling. The name Te Amo carries profound meaning. It’s not just an expression of love — it’s a tribute to my mother herself: (Te) for Teresita and (Amo) for Amorín. Through this foundation, her legacy of love continues to guide everything we do.

Our Mission

We believe in creating safe, inclusive spaces where people can share their stories, access mental health resources, and feel deeply supported. Our goal is to normalize conversations around mental health, reduce stigma, and offer free wellness programming that can quite literally save lives.

How Your Donation Helps

With the help of volunteers, local businesses, and your support, we are working to launch and grow initiatives including:

Free Community Wellness Events

Your support helps us offer yoga, movement classes, guided journaling, and other healing spaces — free to the community. While most labor is volunteer-based, funds help with event logistics, materials, and accessibility.

Support Groups for Suicide Prevention

Led by licensed professionals, we are building in-person groups for mothers, young adults, and individuals navigating suicide ideation and mental health challenges.

Nonprofit Legal & Administrative Fees

We are in the process of becoming a 501(c)(3). Donations help cover filing costs, insurance, and other compliance needs to operate sustainably.

We also rely heavily on in-kind donations and volunteers to keep costs low and impact high.
