Hi my name is Stephanie, the owner of The Dance Edge, and we are fundraising for Team Treyce! Any support would go a long way.
Treyce, a student in our dance family, has been struck with the tragic burden of childhood cancer. Treyce took a turn for the worst overnight. 48 hours before his diagnosis, he was dancing away the days of that past weekend with me in dance camp. Over night, life changed. Treyce has been diagnosed with Leukemia, Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). I recently learnt that it’s not common in children, only about 1-5%. Treyce takes a particular drug as part of his treatment that Sunlife will not cover as it’s normally only for people 18+. This drug is the difference in Treyces survival and hopeful remission. Without this drug, only 20-30% of children are cured of ALL with chemotherapy alone.
The first round of treatment did not have a favourable outcome. Now Treyce spends 4 of the 7 days a week in the hospital receiving life-saving treatments from the amazing people at Sick Kids. Mom, of course, has stepped away from everything in life to be there for Treyce. She does it alone. Many step in to help with keeping areas of life moving for the family and Khaleesi, Treyce’s sister. Mom moves the mountains that stand in Treyces way every day by the power of her and her alone.
This family in particular has already gone through so much before this life altering news. If I could give an award to a mother who knows no boundaries to her love for her children and is among one of the strongest women I know, it would be her! Khaleesi continues to dance competitively with us this season as we navigate the changes in her life and her brothers diagnosis and treatment. This is a gift I can give to her. I will keep bringing the joys of dance to her to keep a smile on her face. I know what a gift dance can be at times like this. The love and support from our studio family has brought many tears to my eyes as I watch the community I’ve grown come together and support one of our own.
We want to help keep life going and expenses as minimal as possible. Everything is, and should be, about Treyce and his recovery. The Dance Edge will be organizing a Light The Night walk in support of Team Treyce. This year the Toronto event is virtual again (due to COVID). We know how important community is and would like to do a walk together, in person, with the love of everyone who would like to attend. Should you feel enough in your heart to donate, we would be forever grateful to you for helping to ease the burden of the next three years of treatment and give some hope to this family.
On Sunday October 2nd, friends of the family will be putting on a charity golf tournament (tinyurl.com/teamtreyce to learn more) to raise funds to help the family during this time. To help keep life going and expenses as minimal as possible. Everything is, and should be, about Treyce and his recovery right now. Golfer and non golfer tickets available, raffle prize donations, and hole and golf cart sponsorships available. Any donations made here will be going directly to help support the family.
Should you feel enough in your heart to donate, I would be forever grateful to you for helping to ease the burden of the next three years of treatment and give some hope to this family. 100% of all donations from this page will be in support of Team Treyce!
Much love and light.
