We need your help to resettle and support a young Syrian refugee couple!
Toronto Advocates for Refugee Resettlement (TARR) is a small group of people from Toronto who have come together to sponsor a young refugee couple -- two men of Syrian and Palestinian origin. TARR will be responsible for providing all resettlement support: this includes everything from airport pick up, local orientation and access to medical care, to furniture and clothing, access to education, and other services.
We are moving quickly, as our couple will be arriving soon: as early as October 1, 2018! The couple were selected for urgent resettlement because of their particular vulnerability, and their past experiences of violence and persecution in their country of origin. We do have some financial support from the Canadian government and a private foundation for the settlement efforts however, the needs of our young refugee couple far outstrip our current resources. We are therefore turning to our community to help us support these young men as they build a safe new home in Toronto, Canada.
Funds raised will go directly towards supporting the couple in their new life in Toronto, such as: ensuring they are in safe and secure housing, clothing and winter gear for the coming winter months in Toronto, resources for English as a Second Language support, and psychiatric support. We are grateful for any support you are able to provide!
