On July 17 Tara went to the hospital for an ear infection and shortness of breath. Unfortunately she was much sicker than anyone realized and she suffered a massive heart attack while in emergency. Desperate and heroic measures were taken, but she never regained consciousness. After her family was able to say goodbye, she passed peacefully in the early morning of July 19.

Tara and Andrew have five children together, aged 3,5,7,9 and 12. Although the siblings and parents of both Tara and Andrew are trying to support the family, there will be many challenges going forward. Andrew has had to take a leave of absence from his job to care for the kids and attempt to deal with his and their grief.

Many people have reached out to the McMartin and Stuart families wondering how they can support Andrew and his shattered family. The immediate need for funds for rent, groceries and utilities is the biggest concern. Meals, children’s activities and housekeeping are also necessary as Tara was an amazing cook, decorator and overall mom. Until any child care or other arrangements are available, Andrew will not be able to return to work.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Funds not immediately required will be put away for the kids’ future.
