Hi Everyone!
This is Olivia. If you know me then you likely already know about my love for medical missions and volunteer work with underserved communities. And now, I have the privilege of being able to go back to Tanzania to work with Dr. Byemba and his team at the end of September. I will be spending a couple days in the clinic in Arusha then traveling to a remote village where we will be holding a free 3-day mobile medical clinic.
The money we raise covers the costs of the mobile clinic so we can provide free care for as many people as possible. Often this clinic is the only medical attention people receive until another clinic is held, potentially as long as a year or more. Our role is to work alongside the Tanzanian staff and support them wherever we can. During our last trip to Tanzania in October 2023, we raised enough money to purchase and donate a portable x-ray machine further expanding the scope of care provided.
I would love your support at any level - every bit helps! And if for some reason I raise more than anticipated, all funds will be donated to bring more medical supplies with us on the trip.
Other ways to support:
- Medical supplies: gauze, sutures, gloves, etc. (Tanzania does not accept anything that is expired.)
- Painting equipment: paint brushes, rollers, etc. (Nonmedical staff assist with set up/breakdown of the clinic and often assist in construction/remodeling.)
- Child/school supplies: soccer balls! (Their soccer field is concrete, and the soccer balls wear out quickly.)
- Prayers for a safe and impactful medical missions
I could easily hold my own TED talk about my experiences and love for the work in which I’ve been fortunate to be a part. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask!
Thanks in advance!
Liv
