Tanzania Expedition with Camps International 2024
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Annabel and I am 17 years old. I am currently studying uniformed protective services at college. I will be embarking on a 4-week expedition to Tanzania in the summer of 2024. During my time in Tanzania, I will be working on a range of projects throughout my expedition, each aligned to the UN Sustainable Development Goals and designed to make a significant and lasting impact on the region’s most critical issues and create sustainable change.
The traditional fishing community near one of our camps suffers from high levels of unemployment and a lack of funding for local schools, forcing children to walk many miles each day just to get an education. I will help by building or renovating school buildings to create inspirational and stimulating learning environments, as well as building sustainable housing for families in need and building water storage systems. Human-wildlife conflict is an ongoing and significant issue in Tanzania, threatening the future of many important species such as elephants. I will get involved in initiatives to promote a peaceful co-existence between the community and the local wildlife, such as improving natural waterholes and constructing elephant deterrent fences to safeguard the future of these incredible animals.
