Help Us Save Taliyah – A Brave Little Girl Facing an Unthinkable Battle

Please read, share, and support in any way you can. Her life depends on it and so could someone else’s.

Hello, my name is Sharon, and I am the very proud Nanna of a courageous and kind little girl named Taliyah. Right now, she is fighting the most heartbreaking and difficult battle of her young life.

Taliyah is 12 years old. She loves drawing, adores Stitch from Disney’s Lilo & Stitch, and has a spark in her that lights up any room she walks into. She’s thoughtful, funny, and wise beyond her years. Even when the world feels like it’s falling apart, she puts others first. The day I was told the most devastating news of my life, she messaged me to ask if I was okay. That’s who she is selfless, gentle, and full of heart.

Her journey with cancer began when she was just five years old. After months of being sick every morning and getting no clear answers, she was diagnosed with medulloblastoma, a form of brain cancer. She underwent major surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation. She fought hard and we all believed she had won.

In May of this year, our world shifted once again. Taliyah’s tumour had returned. We braced ourselves, hoping it was another recurrence of medulloblastoma, the cancer we already knew, she fought. But this time, things were different. After another major brain surgery, we received news no one is ever prepared for: it wasn’t medulloblastoma. It was glioblastoma a name we barely knew then, but now will never forget.

Glioblastoma is one of the most aggressive and devastating brain cancers. In adults, it’s a nightmare. In children, it’s a rarity so rare that treatment pathways are almost non-existent, and outcomes are deeply uncertain. By the time it’s discovered, it’s already at grade IV, the most severe classification, because of how fast it grows and how deeply it invades the brain. It begins in the astrocytes the star-shaped cells that support the brain’s nerve function but quickly spreads like wildfire, often forming multiple tumours and resisting nearly every standard treatment: surgery, radiation, chemotherapy. Even when part of it can be removed, it almost always grows back, and often faster than before. In adults, the average survival is just over a year. For children, there are far fewer answers because there’s been far too little research.

Taliyah has already faced more than any child should. After her first brain surgery years ago, life didn’t just pause it restarted from the beginning. She had to learn everything again: how to walk, how to talk, how to eat. For years, she was fed through a tube. It took her three long, determined years before she could finally enjoy food again but she did it. Against all odds, she reached that milestone, proving just how strong, resilient, and full of fight she truly is. That same spirit is what keeps us going today.

And we are not giving up.

We are determined to give Taliyah every possible chance not just to survive longer, but to live better, and to make every day count. And that’s why we’re fighting for her, and for others like her.

1,000 Miles for Hope – The Cycling Challenge

To raise funds and awareness, we have organised a 1,000-mile cycling challenge from John o’ Groats to Land’s End the full length of the UK. It’s one of the toughest cycling routes in the country, and it’s being taken on by a group of incredible people who are doing it in honour of Taliyah. This journey represents more than just miles it represents love, resilience, and determination.

Every turn of the wheels is a statement:
- We won’t stop.
- We believe in better.
- We are not just fighting for Taliyah but for all the children still waiting for hope.

Our aim is not only to raise the funds needed for Taliyah’s care, but to shine a light on childhood brain cancers like glioblastoma because far too few people know about them until it’s too late.

What We are Raising Funds For

This campaign is about more than just one child. It's about Taliyah, and it's also about every family affected by childhood brain cancer.

Your donations will go toward:
• Alternative treatments not available on the NHS, which could help prolong Taliyah’s life and improve her quality of living
• Private consultations and second opinions from specialists in the UK and abroad
• Therapies and equipment to support her physically and emotionally
• And importantly — funding future support for other children and families facing similar heartbreaking diagnoses, regardless of what the future holds for Taliyah

Because if the unimaginable happens, we don’t want this fight to end. We want something good to come from something so cruel. We want to be able to help other children who are given little to no hope. We want Taliyah’s story to be a light that continues to guide others through their own darkest days.

How You Can Help
• Donate – No amount is too small. Every pound truly makes a difference
• Share – Help us spread this story far and wide. Awareness can save lives
• Support the Cycle Challenge – Sponsor a rider, donate per mile, or just cheer us on
• Join Our Fundraisers – From fun days to online events, every effort counts

Last time Taliyah was sick, we raised money for a children's cancer charity. This time, we are raising it for her, and for every child who may one day walk a similar path. We will not stop until we have done everything we possibly can.
Thank you for standing beside us. Thank you for giving hope. And thank you for being part of something that could change lives.

With all our love,
Sharon and our family
