Hi friends!
As some of you may know, since June 2024 I have been helping a neighbourhood kid, "Gemma" (not real name), whose parents are having trouble.
The father is not well and the mother is always out working 2 jobs but is still struggling just to keep bills paid.
Gemma now spends almost all her time at my house, and the mom is deeply appreciative that someone is taking good care of her daughter while she cannot.
I've also been picking up almost all of the costs. I'm doing all I can to be resourceful but I've still spent over $6,000 in the last 8 months. The family is going to need support for the forseeable future, so I foresee another $6,000+ in 2025.
This is getting costly, so here we are! A GoFundMe!
Can you join "Team Gemma" and pitch in to help me with the cost of taking good care of her this year?
You might be wondering, who is "Gemma"? Here is a little bit about her. She is a smart, creative, respectful, and classy nine year old who loves organizing things, making art, and doing all things creative. She has a sharp mind and a sensitive heart. She is also super cute and is developing a clear sense of her own style. She LOVES learning and she loves doing things properly. She says may want to be a doctor when she grows up. I think she could definitely do this, and I also think she could be a professional dancer, too.
In the past year I have gotten her involved in lessons, developed her social network, and created an active, learning lifestyle for her. Her happiness and confidence have grown enormously, and others are noticing.
Her teacher recently told me how much difference I am making, not just for her, but also for her best friend who is also at my home a lot. She said that what I am doing with these kids is even more important than what they do at school because it is improving their mental health.
That was great to hear because my goal is to give her good childhood experiences that will help her become a healthy young adult and develop into the person she is meant to be.
I am happy to share more personal info in direct email, and happy to answer any questions.
Thank you for considering, and thanks for sharing with anyone who may want to help. Please share directly, not through social media.
