Stand With Renaissance at South Park, Georgia Homeowners Association — Fund Our Lawsuit to Remove HOA Board & Reform Governance
** We're asking each neighbor and supporter to give at least $25 to help fund our legal actions to remove the HOA board and bring transparency back to our community.
Dear Neighbors, Fellow Homeowners, and Supporters of Fair Governance,
My name is Courtney Heard, and I live in Renaissance at South Park. For too long, our homeowners association has operated with little accountability, opaque finances, and decisions made without meaningful input from the people who foot the bill — the homeowners themselves. What was meant to protect our property values and quality of life has become a burden of overreach, secret dealings, and misuse of power.
That’s why we are launching a lawsuit to remove the current HOA board of directors and officers — as the first step toward meaningful reform in how HOAs operate in our state. But legal battles require resources: attorney fees, expert witnesses, audits, court costs, and so on.
That’s why I am reaching out to you through this GoFundMe campaign.
Why This Matters — Not Just for Us, But for All Georgia Homeowners
- HOAs in Georgia often have the authority to levy fines, place liens, and even foreclose when a homeowner’s debt exceeds $2,000.
- Georgia law, particularly the Property Owners’ Association Act (O.C.G.A. § 44-3-220 et seq.), gives structure to how HOAs must behave — but far too many boards flout transparency or use funds without proper oversight.
- Legislative efforts (like Georgia’s proposed HOA Accountability and Community Empowerment Act, “HACEA”) signal that reform is overdue.
- Too many homeowners live under fear of surprise fines, unfair restrictions, and boards acting as if their power is unchecked.
If we win, this lawsuit could:
1. Remove directors who have breached their duties and replace them (or appoint interim oversight).
2. Require forensic audits of HOA finances and restore transparency.
3. Set a precedent for other HOAs in Georgia — showing that boards are not above the law.
4. Push for legislative or policy reform that strengthens homeowner rights statewide.

We will maintain full accounting and transparency for all funds received and spent. Donors will receive periodic updates showing how the money is being used — we’ll treat this campaign with the same standards we demand from HOA boards.
