Support Kathy's Road to Recovery

Donation protected

My name is Ron LeBlanc I am raising money for my sister, Kathy. A girl’s weekend getaway was planned in early September to Nantucket to celebrate my wife's birthday. The group was Bev (my wife), Crystal (my daughter), Kathy, Melissa (Kathy's daughter), Karen (Bev's sister) and Allison (Bev & Karen's cousin). They were having a great time with much discussion and many laughs. On the last day, they decided to rent mopeds. At the rental place they went through a training, and they were off. They decided to go for lunch.

After lunch they were on their way. Five minutes into the ride is where Kathy's life changed. She went off the road and hit a tree. The emergency teams came and took her to the local hospital where it was determined that she needed to be med-flighted to Mass General/Brigham hospital, Boston. Her injuries included a fractured upper spine, two broken ribs, a punctured left lung, brain bleeds and injuries to her left shoulder. As a result, she has no feeling below the waist, no use of her left arm, partial use of her right arm and a tracheotomy was performed to help her breath. Kathy has had no food or drink by mouth since the accident on September 8th. Her wish is to have a dish of vanilla ice cream.
Before the accident, Kathy led a very active life, golfing, Zumba classes, book club and her favorite, caring for her grandchildren. We are praying for miracles to heal her, and that God will do his work through her medical staff. It is going to be a long journey. I have to say that Steve, Kathy's husband, has set an example for all of us if put in a similar circumstance. Since that Sunday, he has not missed a day by her side. He goes to work very early in the morning and is at Kathy's bedside by 11 am when visiting hours begin and generally stays with her until visiting time ends at 8 pm. Her two daughters, Melissa and Jessica have also been by her side. Kathy is currently at Spaulding Rehab in Cambridge, MA. and the outlook is that she will be there for some time. When she is able to return home, their house will require extensive renovations to suit her needs, which will undoubtedly be costly. Kathy needs your prayers and your help. We would appreciate any donation to ease the burden of what the future holds. Thank you
