What is this? Who are you?
In solidarity with some of the proposals for support expressed by People of Color within CA, a group of white allies have decided to take action to respond in ways that are within our immediate control, fully recognizing that this effort is a drop in the bucket compared to what was asked, and what is needed, both at an agency level and a systemic level. This Gofundme has been initiated by a group of white allies, in solidarity with the calls courageously put forth by POC within CA.
What's the point? Money doesn't solve everything!
True! Money does not solve everything. But, some of the needs expressed in the all staff emails included a need for assistance with mental health care co-payments, relief from financial distress (due to Covid disruptions to income or any other reason), and donations of PTO (since there isn't a system in place for that, yet?)
What do I do?
If you would like to donate, you may do so via this webpage. If you would like to donate but cannot afford to do so, you can do your part by sharing this link with those who may be able to donate.
If you are a staff member of CA, identify as a Person of Color and would like to be an equal receiver of the funds collected on this page, please email CAmutualaid at gmail, and include your name as listed in AWARDS, as well as your username information for Venmo, Cash App, Zelle, or PayPal. You will be included in the distribution list, no further questions asked. The names of the people receiving funds will be kept anonymous.
What's Next?
The Gofundme donation page will close at midnight on Sunday, July 19th. On Monday July 20th the money collected will be divided equally among the number of people who have requested to receive funds and one of the volunteers in this group will begin distributing the funds.
