In 2016 I resigned from my job as a University Professor and Administrator and moved to the Dominican Republic to open and operate a Safe House for young girls that had been rescued from Human trafficking and forced child prostitution.
In 2020 while visiting one of our discharged girls out in the village a young girl asked if I could help her because she had a baby that hadn't eaten in 3 weeks. She had been making tea from leaves off the tree giving it to her. When I saw the baby I was speechless. She was six months old but only weighed 9 pounds. She was so weak she couldn't even cry. I immediately took the baby and went to the hospital with her. The doctor said if we hadn't gotten her there when we did she would have died because her belly was rock hard and full of parasites.
That was November of last year and she has been living in the Foundation every since. Her mom is a Haitian refugee with no education or means to get a real job. She has asked me to adopt the baby as we have been caring for her for the last year. I have started the process but the adoption cost for an International adoption is 30,000 U. S dollars. I am a full time Missionary that has given my life to help the less fortunate. Therefore, I don't have the money but I am hopeful that my community of family and friends will help me to make a life changing impact on the life of Baby Bella.
Will You Help?
