Hi, everyone one. This is Aiden Lou Dunn, born January 25 2024 to Shelby Dunn and Shy'Ana Jackson. Although Aiden looks like a perfectly healthy baby boy his little body is fighting a disease that no one would wish on anyone especially a child. He is their first baby and with that it makes his situation extremely scary.
He was born presenting skin anomalies bluish in color which surprised the nurses cleaning him up. As they looked him over they found several on various parts of his body. Because of this at less than 24 hrs old they did a ultrasound on his abdomen and found a 5 centimeter mass on his left side. He was promptly moved to NICU at Mercy Rogers AR. The very next morning 1/26 he was transferred by ambulance to Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock AR. This is a 3hr drive from Rogers. Upon arrival at Children's they did X-rays and informed us he would be getting a CT scan the following morning 1/27. After reading the results of the CT scan and some blood work it was determined that little Aiden has Neuroblastoma Cancer. His specific tumor is on the adrenal gland above his left kidney. They have also found a couple of spots on his lungs and liver. At just 4 days old he went through surgery to remove one of bluish nogules and take bone marrow for biopsy. It is unknown at this time exactly how much or what kind of treatment he will need. We do know that he will remain in the hospital for at least 2 weeks to a month. What ever treatment he receives will need to be given at Arkansas Children's Hospital which may result in over night stays and time off work for his young parents.
A little about his parents, his Daddy (our son) is a delivery driver for a contract company and does not receive paid time off. His Momma is a waitress/bar tender for a local restaurant and also does not receive paid time off. As you can imagine this is very difficult for them. Not only the stress and worry of their newborn son going through something so unfamiliar and traumatic. But also the worry of taking off work to be at the hospital now and making 3hr trips back and forth between home and hospital for future treatments and appointments for a undetermined amount of time.
We are creating this GoFundMe account in hopes of alleviating some of their stress and worry.
If you can donate that would be fantastic. If you can not that's alright also, maybe just share the post for others to see. And all prayers are welcome the more the better. We thank you for taking time to read Aiden's story and God bless.
Sincerely Aiden's Family.
UPDATE:
02/03/2024
Small update on little Aiden. We have received most of his test/scan back and they showed Aiden has cancer spots on his lungs, liver, 2 lymph nodes in his left leg and the main tumor on his left adrenal gland. This has put him at stage 4s. This most likely means chemo for our little guy. They intend to start this next Thursday 2/8 at just 14 days old. We don't know how long he will need these treatments or how often. We do know he will be in the hospital for several days following each treatment. His case is so rare that the oncologist have very little studies to go by or compare to for treatment options. They have however been doing their best to come up with the most effective and safe way for treatment. This still means periods of long stays in the hospital, 3hr drive to and from treatment and time missed from work for his parents. Please keep sharing his story and keep the prayers coming. Thank you for everything you are doing to help alleviate their stress and worry and God bless!
