SAMARITAN - a touring community theatre project
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Simon. I'm a writer, theatre practitioner and licensed Anglican lay minister (in training) based in Nottingham, UK. I have a big heart for Jesus, for the arts, and for politics and social justice.
I am developing a touring theatre show in partnership with Transforming Notts Together (TNT):
TNT builds relationships with churches across Nottinghamshire and inspires, equips and connects them as they help people break free from poverty and isolation arising from injustice and inequality.
The show is called SAMARITAN. An update of Jesus’ famous parable, SAMARITAN tells the heartbreaking true story of a friend I loved and lost, the austerity-ravaged systems that let him down, and the breakthrough of hope and light in the midst of grief.
SAMARITAN is about what it means to love our neighbour, and why our neighbour is everyone. There’ll be passion, politics and protest, and tables will be turned.
Funds from this campaign will be used to get a touring production on its feet for performances in March 2026.
We're aiming to perform at 6-10 community spaces across Nottinghamshire and the East Midlands. Proceeds from ticket sales and audience donations will go to specified charities and ministries, including TNT, to support their ongoing work.
We'd be grateful for donations to help fund
- set construction
- costume and props design
- publicity and marketing materials
- venue and equipment hire
- licensing (including music)
- insurances (including public liability insurance)

Huge thanks.
