A Hopeful Dream - Surrogacy Costs

Welcome to 2017 - March Update

It has been about a year and half since our first attempt at surrogacy proved fruitless. As devastated as we were by the outcome, we pledged to ourselves that we would, one day, try again.
We have now raised, saved, scrimped, scraped together about half of what a 2nd attempt will cost. So I once again am forced to push aside my pride and turn to warm hearts and deeper pockets than my own for any extra help.
Cristina and I are eager to start our family and while there are no gurantees that even a 2nd attempt will work, we believe that we owe it to ourselves to try.
I am more than willing to offer my photography services to anyone who needs or even my skills with a computer.
Visit www.dannyjuare.com to see samples of my work.
We appreciate any and all support that we can muster.
Thank you.

It was the typical story, boy and girl meet, fall in love, get married, then...well, then that brings us to here.

We were married in August 2002 and with bright eyes we entered our adult life and had grand plans for our future, which included a child, or two, or three...
Unfortunately all that was derailed in June 2005, when, eight days after her 26th birthday, Cristina entered into a 2 month coma. She had suffered from a massive AVM (arteriovenous malformation) bleed in her brain that left her clinging to life. True to her spirit though, she fought through the coma, nursing facility, in-patient rehabilitation, and continuous out-patient therapy to try and regain some sense of normalcy.
In 2013, I quit my full time job as a Systems Administrator so that we could move up to the Los Angeles area so that Cristina could receive treatment that was not available down in San Diego. Which leads to us to today and leads us to you.

We decided that although her injury took away many things from Cristina, including the ability to swallow, walk on her own, and many of the independent things "normal" people take for granted, we WERE NOT going to let it take away our chance of becoming parents!!!
Cristina's doctors gave her the green light to go ahead and carry the child herself, but we decided that surrogacy was our safest and best option. Enter my sister, who selflessly agreed to be our surrogate carrier and is giving us the opportunity to live out one of our most important dreams!
As you can imagine, this is a rather expensive procedure. We have both emptied out our 401k's and are putting our savings into this dream. We have just enough for the IVF treatment and procedure, but the cost of all the legal fee's and supplemental insurances and tests and assessments are adding up to be beyond our savings.
I have been really hesitant to start one of these as I am the kind of person who hates to ask for a handout. But, I decided to put aside my pride to make this dream for my beautiful bride (well actually our dream of becoming parents) come true.
So there it is, 13 years of marriage, 10 years of medical bills, 2 lives and 1 LOVE!
Well, you now know our story, can you help?

THANK YOU!
