After battling bone cancer in 1992 and 32 years with a metal femur, knee, and tibia, my son Jason had his 8th surgery (and hopefully last) on Monday to amputate his leg. This was a tough decision, but an infection from December had not gone away after all this time. Infection won this round, but it won’t win again! Surgery went well, and Jason is now home trying to rest and heal in his new normal. He is the strongest person I know!
Unfortunately, due to the infection, Jason, who is a DPS elementary school teacher, has not worked at all this year. He ran out of sick time and is not getting paid anymore. We don’t know how quickly he will receive his prosthetic leg or if he will be ready to go back to work in September. We are asking for any help you can give to Jason and his beautiful family.
