T11 South Children's ward at UCLH
Do you want to join me in making a difference? I'm raising money in aid of UNIVERSITY COLLEGE LONDON HOSPITALS CHARITY and every donation will help. Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.
We are T11 south Children’s ward at University College Hospital looking after Children from birth to 13 years with a wide range of conditions including diabetes, epilepsy, sickle cell disease, asthma and Meningitis.
We also care for babies and children with complex medical needs and life limiting conditions.
We promote family centred care and one parent to stay with their baby/child during their admission. This aims to give the babies/children some sense of normality and comfort during a very difficult time in their little lives.
We have folding camp beds which we have at the bedside for the parents to stay with their child, unfortunately these are very old now and we have many out of action/broken.
This means that we are often short on beds and do not have enough to go round for all children to have a parent sleeping by their side or parents have to spend an uncomfortable night in a chair – not ideal when they are tired, stressed and worried with their unwell child.
The beds are expensive at around £600-700 a bed (with appropriate mattresses and mechanisms for safety and infection control), so we understand this is a big ask, but hope you can help in some way.
Any money left over from buying beds will be used to buy toys/play equipment for the babies and children.
