Donation protected
Hi my name is Kim and I am fundraising for Bangor Sea Cadets based at Ward Park. Bangor Sea Cadets is a Voluntary Youth Organisation supporting 10-18 year olds we have a membership of 120 seniors and juniors. We cater for kids from all denominations both able and impaired, we offer life skills and training both in classroom and on water and land. Kids are taught a wide range of skills from cooking to public speaking, community support, social education and the fun things rowing, camping, paddle boarding, sailing and a variety of other outdoor activities. Our kids are involved and support the local community by attending and participating in remembrance days and community events on a regular basic. We are 79 year based here support the local community but we desperately need help.
This year we are are struggling to be able to raise funds to not only pay the bills but to be able to replace and repair vital damaged and aged gear and equipment. Whilst we actively fund raise we have fallen on hard times through no fault of our own. We had had unexpected additional costs firstly a tree falling on our building and having to come up with the £1000 pound excess for the insurance and still not being 100% sure it will be fully covered. Secondly we loaned equipment to a community event for a weekend and had one of our boats damaged and 8 oars broken or damaged and needing to be replaced this cost £1725. On top of this the cost to maintain and pay the every rising bills to keep the building in working order and to heat on training days. We have been actively fundraising with bake days, rowathons in shopping centers and events at the unit. We need to replace and repair oars, damaged boating gear & sailing gear also tents and radios and this is why we are doing this. We have a lot of kids and there favourite time is when we get them out on the water and land based activities the funds we raise will allow us to do this.
All our instructors are volunteer and give up there time to support these kids and we would greatly appreciate any donations to help support us changing these children's lives and help making them ready with life skills for their futures.
