Sylvester-Johnson Family New Beginnings

This is the beautiful Sylvester-Johnson Family.

Mom is Delonza, aka “Kitten”. She is a single mom to these to beautiful kiddos ages 9 & 4.

She moved to TX in March after she lost her job due to COVID to start over with kids. In the last 1.5 years she has lost 3 close family members, her mother, sister and a brother. They were her support system. She had owned her own salon business, but with the compiled deaths of her family it all became too much and she found a regular job at a Dry Bar, which was the job she lost due to COVID. 

She moved to Texas to be around cousins and hoping for some familial connection, and a break from the high cost of living in CA, but that too fell through.

She ended up living in a hotel in Sugar Land, working as a server at a restaurant trying to do all she could for her and her sweet kiddos, but staying in a hotel, funds were running out quickly.

Thankfully, a precious family friends of mine opened their home to them the past week while they are on vacation, giving us some time to find a place for her and her kids. But they come home on Monday, June 29th. So the clock is ticking.

She’s applied to Abigail’s Place, which is a ministry to homeless single moms, however, they are full!

Attack Poverty grant money is used up.

She is NOT a domestic violence case so the Fort Bend Women’s Shelter is not some place she can go. And she cannot apply for housing assistance because she is not a TX resident yet. So many catch 22’s.

After posting their story on FB looking for resources, many people asked if we could set up a GoFundMe to help get them on their feet. So that is what this is for.

Delonza is such a delight and loves the Lord and a real go getter. She is a wonderful mom and her kiddos are precious.

The kids are able to stay with myself and other friends during the day while she works. She is just needing to catch up on things and be in a position to save money for their own place. 

She is waiting for unemployment from CA, but that will take a while.

With all that is happening in our world right now, I know EVERYONE is stretched thin, but I’m asking if any of you can stretch a little more.

I will vouch for her and so will another friend. She is solid and loves the Lord. I have no doubt God has the perfect place for her and her kiddos.

All funds raised for her and her kids will be for living expenses towards securing a one bedroom apartment and catching up on her car note and giving them a fresh start in Texas.
