Our community has watched for years as the "Swingbridge Ospreys" make their home on the very top of the East Haddam Swingbridge, every March. After being approached by community members and my friends the RiverQuest, I approached CT DOT. They agreed and the platform was installed earlier this year!

This summer the Osprey's claimed the platform as their home and raised two chicks.  After a season of seeing them everyday it was sad to see the last chick fledge mid September. 

It was important that this be a community funded project and not funded entirely with taxpayer dollars. Along with The Riverquest, Local Girls Scouts and people who value the ospreys on the CT River we donated over $4,000 to the CT DOT.

While we did not reach our 50% match goal, it was a successful partnership and I want to thank DOT for all of their support, as well.
