Swimathon 5K for Mermaids

An update. I completed my swim on Saturday morning. It took longer than I anticipated but we got there in under two hours. As is expected of journalists, I was the first to arrive and the last to leave. Though there were only three of us doing the Swimathon in Mitcham, the other two being aged 11 and 15! Thank you for all your support and donations, which I will now be forwarding on to Mermaids. I hope to be back next year.

I am swimming a 5K to raise money for the Mermaids charity. I am doing my swim to benefit a good cause and to support Tammy who is a key member of the charity's team. Moral support is just as valuable as any money, of any amount, that anyone generously gives.

The big day is March 29 9am at Canons leisure centre, Mitcham. I am aiming to beat my record and get under 1hr 40mins. No pressure.
