Thank you for donating to the 5th annual SWEET day L.A. This is the BEST day of the year for the homeless men and women of Los Angeles - as well as the Volunteers that donate their time to serve them.
Most nights Harold sleeps on a sidewalk in South L.A. If he’s lucky, sometimes he gets a real bed to sleep in at The Midnight Mission. Harold is a son, a dad and a brother. I met Harold last year and discovered his great sense of humor. I learned about his childhood and what movies he likes. For a host of reasons, life took a downwards turn and Harold found himself unsheltered. Homeless.
Harold isn’t alone. There are approximately 82,000 people homeless on any given night in Los Angeles. And, men make up 75% of the street population - most in downtown.
In honor of Harold, and all the other dad’s and son’s without a home, the 5th Annual Sweet Day L.A. 2017, will be held on Father’s Day, Sunday June 18.
It’s hosted by Adeline Cook of Chocbite.com. After serving dinner at The Midnight Mission, Adeline, volunteers and sponsors will provide homeless men and women with a choice of gourmet chocolate. Last year Sweet Day L.A. served over 4,000 people!
“While the chocolate is tasty,” says Adeline, “the real treat is for us volunteers to spend time, honor and care for these wonderful people.”
Sweet Day LA 2017 needs your help. Please give $10, $25, $100, $300 or whatever you can to help with the cost of thousands of pieces of gourmet chocolate.
