Swavy's Shining Youth Annual Scholarship Campaign

Swavy’s Shining Youth Scholarship Foundation was established in November 2021 in memory of our beloved Matima Abasi Miller Jr. whose life was tragically taken to gun violence in the city of Wilmington. Matima carried an extraordinary aura, his vibrant personality, exuberance, and captivating dance moves left a special place in the hearts of millions around the world.

The purpose of Swavy’s Shining Youth Scholarship Foundation is to provide an opportunity for the youth in our local community to afford the proper educational resources they need to increase their academic achievement and succeed in the career field of their choosing. Our goal is to establish a lasting legacy Scholarship dedicated to motivating young minds and assisting dreamers like Matima to pursue higher education.

Our vision is to empower the youth and provide scholarships to deserving high school graduating seniors intending to pursue a course of study at either a two-year or four-year educational institution.

For 2021-22, Swavy’s Shining Youth Scholarship Foundation’s award ceiling is $15,000 and, the individual maximum award is $2,500. The foundation will award approximately ten (10) scholarships, ranging in amounts from $500 - $2,500 per award, based on the applicant’s essay submission and criteria.

All Proceeds Will Go To The Scholarship Foundation, and Will Be Distributed To The Winning Applicants.
