Why I’m Fundraising
Hi, my name is David Hackett, and I’m raising funds to bring Swap & Serve 2 to life.
Swap & Serve 2 is a community-led initiative based in Limerick that collects clean, wearable clothing through schools, local groups, and the wider public, and redistributes it back into the community. The aim is to make sure clothing goes where it is needed most, while strengthening the sense that Limerick looks after its own.
This project is about more than clothing. By encouraging people of all ages to take part, Swap & Serve 2 helps build connection, responsibility, and pride in the city. When people actively help one another, the whole community benefits. Creating positive, shared initiatives like this gives people a constructive outlet and helps reduce anti-social behaviour by fostering inclusion and ownership.
Sustainability is a core part of the project. Clothing that might otherwise be wasted is reused, reducing environmental impact while meeting real, local needs. Sustainability becomes something practical and community-driven rather than just a concept.
The goal is simple: redistribute resources fairly, bring people together, and create a culture where helping one another is normal.
This project relies on community support. If you can contribute through a donation, volunteering your time, offering advice, or providing services, it would be hugely appreciated.
What the funds will be used for:
Project coordination
Planning, outreach, and running collections across Limerick
Materials and logistics
Collection boxes, posters, flyers, storage, transport, and event supplies
Unexpected costs
A small buffer to ensure everything runs smoothly
Every donation directly supports Swap & Serve 2 and helps create a stronger, more connected community for everyone involved.
Thank you for supporting a local, community-first initiative in Limerick.
