Swansea Veterans Hub – Supporting Those Who Served and Their Families

At Swansea Veterans Hub, we are proud to support not only veterans, but also their families, the wider Armed Forces community, blue light workers, and members of our local community who need help the most.
We provide a safe, welcoming space where people can come together, access support, and rebuild confidence and purpose. Many of those we help are facing significant challenges, including mental health struggles, isolation, and financial hardship. Our focus on wellbeing ensures that no one feels alone.

We provide compassionate, informed support to those experiencing difficulties such as homelessness, employment, financial difficulties, alcohol and substance addiction, social isolation, health and wellbeing and much more. We also work closely with specialised organisations, ensuring those in need are supported and signposted to the right people.
As part of Connected Forces Cymru, we are proud to be part of a wider network dedicated to improving the lives of the Armed Forces community across Wales.

Why your support matters
We rely heavily on fundraising and donations to continue our vital work. Demand for our services is growing exponentially, and every contribution helps us to help veterans and their families who are desperately in need.
Every single penny raised goes directly towards caring for and supporting our beneficiaries, helping us provide essential services, activities and a lifeline to those who need it most.

Sara's Story - Why I am running for Swansea Veterans Hub

I've always been a runner. My mother even said I was born fast and came out resembling a gazelle, I presume all long and leggy, not covered in fur!

I grew up in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia because my dad worked there.
We were living there during the Gulf War, and during this time,
I witnessed a huge military presence and met many allied soldiers. We even hosted them in our homes for short breaks.
I also had to learn to use a gas mask and find shelter during air raids.
After the war, aged 12, I was partly coached in my running by a US Marine.
He literally caught me at the end of a very long and hot race in the desert.
So my admiration and respect for military personnel started in childhood, in these unusual circumstances.

Then, last September at the age of 16, my son joined the army.
That was it, poppies everywhere, on my car, on my work lanyard, my tea mug. I was filled with this desire to serve, not only my son but any soldier or veteran.

My best friend of 25 years, Kathryn Price, had just become involved with the SVH and suggested I come and meet them at the hub. I was heart warmed with the support THEY gave ME, regarding my son joining. Shortly after that, we came up with a plan which gives me the absolute honour to run the Swansea half-marathon for SVH.

For me , it incorporates my lifelong love of running , my military connections, and my desire to serve those who serve or who have served.
