On Thursday, 20 August 2026, our local community was rocked by the heartbreaking loss of a beloved family member in a tragic house fire.

Steve and his family have not only experienced the heartbreaking loss of a beloved family member but have also lost the family home that has been at the heart of thier lives for over 50 years. Generations of memories were created within those walls, making this loss even more devastating for Dierdre, Steve and the family.

As friends of the family, John, Kath and Peita have created this fundraiser to support Steve and his family as they begin the unimaginable journey of rebuilding their lives following this devastating event.

Steve is much more than a local resident. He is a well-known musician, a lifelong member of the Swansea and Caves Beach community, and someone who has touched the lives of many through his kindness and talent. Whether you've shared a conversation with him, enjoyed his music, or simply crossed paths with him around town, chances are you've experienced the warmth and character that make Steve such a valued member of our community.

In the space of a single night, Steve and his family have suffered a loss that no family should ever have to endure. Alongside their grief, they now face the overwhelming challenge of navigating the practical realities that follow such a tragedy.

As a community, we want to come together and remind Steve and his family that they are not facing this alone.
