We are writing to ask for your help raising funds to help sustain our zestful, witty, kindhearted, inventive, and adventurous mom, while we work on getting further elder care supports.
Our goal is to raise money so she will be able to stay in her home with the care and medical coverage she needs.
She has been remarkable at managing strenuously distressing challenges.
After working intensely, she paid off and resolved all family and busines debts, many of which she did not know about until she took over the Blum Group, Inc. Sadly, she had to use money that was set aside for her own elder care to cover these egregious liabilities.
At 78 years old, her health continues to decline. Daily, she wrangles with a long list of health complications (such as polymyalgia rheumatica, ankylosing spondylitis, diverticulosis, and deep vein thrombosis, to name only a few). Due to a mix of vestibular and orthopedic instabilities, she no longer has the ability to drive and she struggles to walk.

She receives a monthly social security check from the government, which at the moment covers her rent. We are lucky she had the forethought 24 years ago to get long-term care. This is a lifeline for the time-being, not only for her but also for us. We, her daughters, are there in person (Lesley) and via telecommunication (Wendy) frequently. But for now, Mom’s long-term caregiver Lu is present regularly to assist with daily needs such as bathing, cooking, walking, getting dressed, doing laundry, and getting to the bank, grocery store, pharmacy and doctor/hospital appointments.

After our mom’s fourth move in a decade to decrease expenses, she is now in an affordable and comfortable home setting.

The joy and laughter we’ve all shared over the years is too much to contain in one sentence. She has helped make us kinder, wiser, and more compassionate human beings. We treasure her beyond what words can express. Working to raise this money and seek further supports is the least we can do to help sustain her wellbeing, humor, and vivacious sparkle!
