Sustainable Food for Cabarete, DR

I am raising money to be donated to the organization Cabarete Sustainable, which was started early in the pandemic to address the 80% food insecurity rate in the area due to no tourist dollars coming in.  Cabarete is a beautiful vibrant community in the north of the Dominican Republic and holds a special place in my heart.  The locals always welcome me with open arms and look out for me when I’m visiting. With the lack of tourism the area is facing an 85% unemployment rate and up to 10,000 people are in need of food. 

I know first hand that the families are struggling as lots of youth who I played basketball with there have been messaging me on Facebook asking for money to buy food because their parents have no work. $4 (the cost of a high end coffee) can feed 1 person for 1 week. I am also going to matching all donations up to $100, so if we reach our goal, I will be sending off a total of $200 to this organization... enough to feed 50 individuals for a week.
