Surrey Misfit Holiday is a free, sober, all ages event for people in/ from government care, self-identified Misfits, and anyone who might feel like they don't have a place they belong around the holidays to come together and hang with others in a good way on Christmas Eve.

This event was started by Misfits for Misfits! For the last 9 years, a small group of young leaders with lived government care experience (and other adversities like homelessness, mental health challenges, abuse, etc.) have hosted a free holiday event for folks in and from care, Misfits in the community, and our allies to spend Christmas Eve together as a solution to the loneliness and disconnection that can feel overwhelming in the season. In the last few years we have brought together hundreds of people to feast and celebrate!! Additionally, we have brought leftover food and stockings to the Downtown Eastside. This year, we want to celebrate by beginning a similar event in Surrey to bring together folks in community that have not been able to travel to Vancouver.

This event is more than a meal - it represents connection, dignity, belonging and joy during a time that is anchored by disconnection and lack of services. By supporting this initiative, you are helping to ensure that the Misfits in our community are loved and not left behind during the holiday season.
