For those who are directly associated with me, know the last few months have been more than a grief process; it's been a physical process as well as mental. I have gone through some things medically, which has caused me to be out of work, out of commission now for 2 months. The last day I worked was June 30 before surgery, and now after the healing process, it's been longer because of the surgery. While in surgery, my lungs collapsed, and my vocal cord nerve was damaged. Four weeks later, I'm still not able to speak fully without being short of breath, faint, light-headed. My speech has changed; I can't fully pronounce some words clearly anymore. My vocals aren't repaired; I haven't gotten my voice back and now have to be evaluated for nerve repair on Aug 21. The hours, days, weeks, and now months are passing, and without work as an independent contractor, I haven't gotten any sick time, 401k, or medical leave. It's all on me and those who've been helping in any way, but bills, responsibility, life doesn't stop. I battled with God about asking for help, but He laid on my heart numerous times while being uncomfortable about how and where that "we have not because we ask not." It's been 2 months now; everything is doubled or doubling soon. School, basic essentials, simple necessities are required to live. As someone who worked and taken care of others for 23 years, I never wanted to need others' care, but I won't pretend anymore. I don't, and I won't go against God's word.
