Some of you know how hard it is to get affordable health insurance when you're self-employed. When you don't have anything major to worry about, it's cheaper to use sliding scale or self-pay options as needed for upkeep... It was fine until it wasn't.

My doctor found a mass the size of a small apple on my left ovary. It would have been OK if it was just a simple endometrioma. The problem is that it has vascularity and solid parts, hence the rushed referral to oncology.

My gynecological oncologist wants to do the following procedures listed below.

In a nutshell, it's a robotic hysterectomy, taking everything, tubes and all, except for my right ovary (I had 2 mini-strokes from estrogen in birth control, so leaving the one good ovary keeps me from needing hormone replacement therapy). During the hysterectomy, they will have a pathologist freeze and slice into the sample to determine what kind of cancer it is and if it has metastasized (spread further). If it has spread further, they will determine if they need to remove anything like lymph nodes or other areas of concern.

Surgery procedures:

Total robotic hysterectomy, bilateral salpingectomy, left oophorectomy, frozen section with ovarian cancer staging procedures
