Surgeries for Austin Palmer (Cody & Alison's Son)
Donation protected
In July of 2020 Alison, Cody and their two children, Lexi and Conner, were excited to find out that they were expecting a third baby! Something they had been talking about and planning for years. At their 12-week appointment and first ultra sound they found out they were having rare, identical high-risk twins. Even though they knew that this pregnancy wouldn’t be easy they were thrilled to be welcoming these little guys into the family. During the 18-week anatomy scan they got information that rocked their world. One of their twins was diagnosed with a rare heart disease called Hypo-plastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS) and Double Outlet Right Ventricle (DORV). This news was devastating, but they proceeded forward with hope and a positive outlook that everything would workout. Due to the congenital heart defects and high-risk pregnancy Alison was required to be inpatient at the hospital at 26 weeks, with the hope that they could keep both her and the babies safe until she delivered. Because she is an amazing mother, Alison checked herself into the hospital the day after Christmas, knowing that she likely wouldn’t be able to see her other two children very often, if at all, until she delivered. The goal was to make it to 32 week and on February 6th, 2021, she delivered her boys just 1 day before she hit 32 weeks.
Once stabilized Austin was transported to Primary Children’s Hospital where they specialize in pediatric heart disease. Austin’s care plan is for him to have 2 open chest/heart surgeries over the next year with a third follow up surgery around 2-3 years old. The goal is to have the right side of his heart work to supply his whole body. At 13 days old, Austin received his 1st surgery. Since then, he has slowly been progressing and hitting his benchmarks. He was doing well enough that Alison and Cody were hopeful that they might be able to bring him home before his next surgery, however, last night his heart stopped a couple of times and the doctors are not sure why, making it clear that he will not be going home anytime soon.
Alison and Cody are staying strong and are doing what they can to raise money to cover medical costs, they have very good medical insurance, but are going to need help. Please donate anything you can to help relieve the financial burden these two brave parents are facing.
Thank You in Advance and God Bless!
