Hi friends,

It’s my birthday this weekend. How we celebrate changes every year. This year is looking a bit quiet and introspective. I’ve noticed some friends do birthday fundraisers and have always wanted to do this, so thought it’s a good time to try.

One of the things I’ve taken pleasure in since Covid, is giving money to one or two people I know who are in need, directly. It feels more real, I know the person and trust them, and your impact is instant and obvious.

It’s been in the back of my mind to find a charity that does similar things - directly give money to people who need it. And I’ve found one, so you can do the same and get a charitable tax receipt!

The charity is GiveDirectly - it’s a data backed, proven and scalable way to radically impact people living in poverty and their communities.
