My name is Julie Upton and I run a spiritual adventure travel company called Middle Way Tours (middlewaytours.com).  I primarily guide people on transformational journeys In the Footsteps of the Buddha through Northern India and Nepal.  I do take travelers to other parts of those areas, Tibet and Bhutan but, my home base is Kathmandu, Nepal and this has been my home for three-years.  I participate in the community as I would while living anywhere.  I volunteer with an amazing group of people called Green Soldiers ((https://www.facebook.com/greensoldiernepal/?pnref=lhc).  We clean up trash all over Nepal but, EVERY Saturday specifically at Swayambunath Temple, educating people through action.  Most of the people that come through the sacred temple on a busy Saturday have never seen anyone pick up trash before let alone a foreigner from the USA.  Since the earthquake, Green Soldiers have become more humanitarian oriented.  We are walking supplies into villages where the road is still washed out and helping the people struggling the most.  Currently in Nepal there are too many needs with way too little help and funding because the government and a lot of NGO’s have a huge amount of red-tape to go through and expenses so I am offering to raise money then personally give it to people in need.  No middle person taking any profits except for gofundme.  It will be me handling the money and my fellow Green Soldiers and other friends assessing the current situation and distributing as necessary.

I am heading home to Kathmandu February 21, 2016 and am raising awareness in regards to the current situation in Nepal and asking my fellow westerners for money to help my community in need.   Every penny makes a huge difference.  The exchange rate is big however, things have become much more expensive since the border is closed between India and Nepal.

Examples of what the money will be spent on:

*Cooking gas for new mothers, sick, elderly, children
*Warm blankets and clothes
*Medicine
*Building materials to help reinforce the make-shift
  shelters and schools
*Food
*Gas for vehicles
*Building stable homes when the weather is warmer

Funding is needed ASAP.  I will keep this account open until everyone is warm and fed.

We are so lucky with all our heat and electricity here in the west.  I want to put my 2016 foot forward helping others and being grateful for what I have and invite you to help me in this endeavor.  I will distribute the money personally.  Green Soldiers is a non-profit 501 c3 if anyone is interested in making a donation to them directly for the tax write off.
