Since birth, he has faced complex medical challenges, primarily an AVSD (atrioventricular septal defect), and is currently in PICU while the incredible doctors and nurses caring for him support him through this stage of his heart journey. With no clear timeline for coming home yet, we are living day by day balancing hope, exhaustion, and the practical realities of hospital life.
Like many families in this situation, we are doing everything we can to stay present for Zephyr while keeping life as steady and normal as possible for Aurora and our dog, Otis.
We recently explored a critical illness claim through our life insurance, hoping it would provide financial stability during this period. Unfortunately, initially we were rejected a payout but upon review of our claim, our policy terms and due to human error, we were granted a payout which has helped up massively and allowed us to focus on Zephyr and Aurora 100%.
With Poppy nearing the end of her maternity leave, and myself turning freelance work down in order to be present at Zephyr’s bedside while also supporting Aurora emotionally at home, we are facing increasing financial pressure during an already challenging time.
Any funds donated will help support our family with:
• Mortgage and essential household bills • Food and daily living costs during long hospital stays
• Travel and practical costs related to hospital life
• Childcare support for Aurora
• Kennel costs if extended hospital stays mean Otis needs additional care
Many of you know our journey through The 777 Collective, something born from our experiences as a family and the meaning we’ve found through this chapter of our lives. While this fundraiser is not connected to the brand itself, the spirit behind it reflects the same values: resilience, community, and riding the west wind together through difficult moments. https://the777collective.com/
Our focus right now is simply to be present as parents but doing that while navigating financial uncertainty has been incredibly difficult. We’ve been asked how people can support us, and this is one way.
There is absolutely no expectation but if you feel able to help, whether through a donation or simply sharing this page, we are incredibly grateful.
Your kindness will help us focus on what matters most: being present for Zephyr and for our family during this journey.
Thank you!
