Supporting victims of the Lismore floods
In February 2022, my home town of Lismore, NSW, was decimated by the worst flooding in recorded history. Areas in and around Lismore saw a year's worth of rainfall in three days. 22 people died, and many residents have lost everything. Before and after pictures provide a glimpse into the scale of the disaster https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2022/feb/28/lismore-flooding-before-and-after-pictures-show-the-full-scale-of-disaster
On Saturday, April 30, I will be running the Champaign 10k to raise funds for GIVIT's storms and flooding appeal, which directly benefits those affected by the recent floods. This will be the longest run of my life, but it's the least I can do to support my community. (For anyone not familiar with Champaign, IL, training has involved plenty of early morning runs in 0-degree C weather, often with a dose of snow). With your support, I hope to raise at least $1,000 to support recovery efforts and will match every dollar for the first $1,000 donated. It's often said, but every little bit helps.
