My big brother Tommy - my first friend in life and one of my favorite people in the world - was recently diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, a rare and very serious form of blood cancer.

Family means everything to Tommy. He and his wife Kristine are raising four incredible kids Randy, Julianna, Molly, and Thomas. He’s a proud theatre dad, a loyal behind-the-scenes helper, and the kind of father who shows up fully for everything his kids love.

And not just his immediate family, but his large group of friends and a big, tight-knit extended family with so many cousins who grew up like siblings, always in each other’s lives and always showing up when it matters most.

Now, he needs that same love and support around him.

Tommy has already begun intensive chemotherapy. This summer, he will undergo a stem cell transplant that will require a long hospital stay, isolation from his family, and a difficult road to recovery.

If you know Tommy, you know he’s built his life around showing up for others.

For decades, he’s been a constant presence in our community, coaching hockey with the Ramapo Saints, supporting Park Ridge Baseball, running the New York City Roller Hockey League for over 20 years, and mentoring generations of young athletes. Now he’s even coaching the kids of the players he coached years ago.

Tommy has organized charity tournaments, built teams like Team Bergenfield and the Bergenfield Bruins, and used the sports he loves to bring people together and give back.

On any given night, you’d find him at the rink, on the field, in the stands, or just outside the spotlight helping someone else shine.

That’s who Tommy is.
