Let’s help the Thompson Family through an extremely difficult time
Aaron, Logan, and Ava Thompson are in need of some extra love and assistance following the death of Aaron’s partner and the kids’ mom, Gina. Gina lost her battle to brain cancer on December 14, 2024: a date just between Ava’s 10th birthday and Christmas. Gina had been hospitalized since August 2024, when a fall prompted her doctors to check for injuries in her head and neck; this ultimately discovered a tumor on her brain stem that had been causing her extreme pain and mobility issues for a long time. The location of the tumor made it impossible to remove surgically. They attempted chemotherapy, but the cancer did not respond to it and continued to grow. She was given a tracheotomy to ensure that she could continue to breathe, but it had the unfortunate side effect of leaving her unable to speak. This cancer systematically removed her ability to move, breathe, and even communicate with her children, before taking her life at the age of 38.
While this fundraiser cannot undo any of the pain or unfairness of losing Gina, a loving mother and partner, it can help to get the Thompson family back on their feet after a tragic battle. Aaron’s income was dependent on caring for Gina, and he was without a source of income throughout the course of her hospitalization. He visited her daily, helping the facilities’ staff in feeding her and ensuring her comfort. He was among the few who were able to understand her limited ability to communicate, and thus became her voice. Simultaneously, he was responsible for their two children, one of whom has special needs, and split his time between caring for his partner and his children. While he works to find a new job and waits for his earnings to start coming, this fundraiser will help him to make his car payments, pay off some of the debt accumulated over the course of Gina’s illness, and provide for his children. Logan and Ava are amazing kids, who have shown so much strength and grace while going through something absolutely horrific. The loss of a mother is heartbreaking for anyone, but especially so for children just at the age to need her the most.
Please, let’s do what we can to help ease their burdens through their grief.
