This is GoFundMe is being set up for my sister Avery, Jason, and their two boys. Jason was diagnosed with VHL (Von Hippel-Lindau) which is a rare gene mutation. It can cause tumors to grow throughout the body on multiple organs.

Within the last few weeks, Jason was rushed to the hospital with stroke like symptoms. When he arrived at the hospital and had a CT scan, it showed he had hydrocephalus (a build up of fluid in the brain). Unfortunately, the tumor on his brain stem grew a cyst which caused a blockage in his brain and wouldn't allow his spinal fluid to flow freely. They performed surgery to place a hole on the front side of his brain stem to allow spinal fluid to flow back out. After almost two weeks at home after that surgery, he began having the same stroke like symptoms that he went in the hospital for the first time. The hole they had made for the spinal fluid to flow again has began closing up. So now he will undergo surgery again to put a shunt in place as another way to get that spinal fluid to flow.

He will eventually need to remove this tumor on his brain stem completely. But we are hoping after the shunt is placed, he can get back on his VHL medication to reduce the size of the tumor and as a result make that big surgery a lot less critical.

All of this has caused Jason to not be able to work as normal. Making ends meet with just day to day bills and medical bills has been hard on them. I know they would be more than appreciative to anyone that is able to help them during this time. All money will go towards paying for their bills and medial expenses.
