Supporting the Martis family

We (Christine Tsao and Donna Tram) are asking the community to support our friends in navigating this new chapter after their mother’s passing.

Relma Martis unexpectedly passed on April 1, 2023. She is survived by three kind, intelligent, beautiful children–Michael (23), Gabrielle (20), and Rafaelle (15).

In the 49 years that she shared with us, Relma filled the community with love and light. To know Relma is to know dedication and sacrifice. And it is impossible for those who had the privilege of knowing Relma–even if only in brief interactions–to not be touched by her gentle, sweet spirit. This is a tremendous loss not only to the Martis family but to the entirety of our community.

Despite all of this, Relma struggled with multiple health issues from a young age. In December 2022, she was rushed to the hospital by her daughters where she was diagnosed with kidney issues due to her prolonged battle with diabetes. In the months following, Relma was in and out of doctor’s offices in hopes of treating persistent pain and symptoms. Unfortunately, she was taken from us on Saturday morning.

Relma was a vital financial resource to the Martis children, and we hope this will alleviate some of their logistical concerns. The entire amount fundraised will be sent to the Martis children to assist with their living and educational expenses.
