Over Labor Day weekend 2025, our cousin Janene [Kusmierz] Kobow’s family experienced a life-altering tragedy. Her husband, Jim Kobow—a devoted father, loving husband, caring brother and son, and loyal friend—suffered a severe head (brain) injury in a devastating accident.
By God’s grace, Jim is showing signs of responsiveness; his eyes are open, and he is attempting to communicate. While this offers hope, his recovery will be long and challenging. He faces months of rehabilitation, therapy, and ongoing care.
This journey also brings significant financial strain.
To help ease this burden, we’ve set a fundraising goal of $50,000.
We've broken this down into stages so you can see how each part of your generosity will help.
Immediate Needs
- Rent and utilities while Jim is unable to work
- Groceries and daily living expenses
- Transportation to and from medical appointments
Medical Costs
- Out-of-pocket medical bills not covered by insurance
- Prescription medications
- Physical therapy and rehabilitation
Long-Term Recovery
- Ongoing therapy and treatments
- Support for getting back to work
- Specialized equipment and home modifications (as needed)
Janene and their children—Josh (with his wife Kelsi and children Kyli and Easton) and Jillian (with her husband James)—are by Jim’s side, offering strength and love through every step of this difficult road.
As they navigate the physical, emotional, and financial demands of recovery, we invite you to join us in supporting the Kobow family. No gift is too small. Every donation, share, and message of encouragement brings hope and relief.
Please consider helping the Kobow family as they walk this difficult path. Your generosity, prayers, and compassion are deeply appreciated.
Both Jim [1981] and Janene [1982] are graduates from Edison High School, Mpls, MN.
With heartfelt thanks,
