Supporting the Chio Family: Abuelita Carmen

Welcome to our GoFundMe campaign dedicated to assisting the Chio family during these immensely challenging times. This fundraiser has been created to extend our support to Abuela Carmen and her husband Romerico, who were brought to the United States from Cuba in October 2022. Unfortunately, their journey to a brighter future has been shadowed by the devastating news of Carmen's cancer diagnosis.

Just two weeks ago, Carmen underwent a major surgery to remove a tumor near her spine. Regrettably, the cancer has spread rapidly, affecting her bones and brain. Heartbreakingly, Carmen's health has swiftly deteriorated and is now in Hospice care.

Carmen, Romerico, and their entire family have faced this adversity with tremendous love, strength, and humility. However, the financial burden of medications and supplies required to keep Carmen comfortable during these final moments has added an enormous amount of stress for the family.

With deep compassion, we have come together to support the Chio family during this difficult period. Our mission is to raise funds that will alleviate the financial pressure they are facing. By providing assistance for medical expenses and acquiring the necessary supplies, we hope to ease their burden and allow them to focus on what matters most: spending precious time with Carmen and ensuring her comfort during her last chapter.

For more than 50 years, Carmen and Romerico have shared a beautiful love story, serving as an inspiration to those around them. They have been blessed with a daughter, a son, four cherished grandchildren, and two adored great-grandchildren.
