Father McGivney track and field and cross country assistant coach Brandon Ahring passed away on April 16 following a car accident.
Ahring, a 2021 graduate of Father McGivney, was 22 years old.
In a letter from Father McGivney Principal Joe Lombardi to the school’s community, Ahring was returning home from track and field practice.
“Brandon’s passion for the sport and love for our school brought him back to serve as an assistant coach for the past three years, working closely under the guidance of head Coach Jim Helton,” Lombardi wrote. “Brandon quickly grew into a confident, inspirational coach — one who made a lasting impression on our athletes through his quiet strength, encouragement, and unwavering kindness.”
As a student at Father McGivney, Ahring competed in both track and field and cross country.
Ahring’s brother, Tyler, is a current senior at Father McGivney. He is on the track and field team this spring and played soccer and ran cross country in the fall.
“Among the many blessings in Brandon’s life, one of his greatest joys was the opportunity to coach his younger brother, Tyler, over these past three years,” Lombardi wrote. “Brandon was a humble young man, but he took tremendous pride in Tyler, who is currently a senior at Father McGivney Catholic High School.
“His love for his family was evident in everything he did, and his deep faith guided his actions each and every day. Brandon lived a life of service, compassion, and kindness — a life that reflected the teachings of Jesus in the most authentic way.”
Along with his brother Tyler, Brandon is survived by his parents, father Brett and mother Chris.
We believe it is no parents duty to pay for their child's funeral.
