Supporting Tampa's Homelessness with Metropolitan Ministries

Hello, everyone!

My name is Jerry Brothers, and I’m passionate about making a difference in the lives of those who need it most. This year, I’m embarking on an exciting new fundraiser aimed at providing support towards the homeless community of Tampa, Florida, along with the help of my best friends, Jack Hannan.

Last year, we successfully organized a similar project for Operation Stand Down, an organization in Johnston, RI, that serves the many homeless veterans of Rhode Island while providing support as a primary resource for many at-risk veterans. In this project, we raised nearly $2,200 in funds, including $1,000 from our own contributions. With these funds, we were able to create 50 gift bags with basic health essentials and toiletries while using around $1,000 towards non-perishable food items. With the help of incredible supporters, we were able to successfully deliver these donations to Operation Stand Down, which were then distributed to the community. This initiative made a lasting impact on the lives of many heroes who served our country, and it also demonstrated the power of community when we come together for a shared cause.

Now, we are calling on your support once again to help take this year’s fundraiser to new heights! Our goal is to raise $3,000 to use towards basic health-essential toiletries and non-perishable food items, which will all be given to Metropolitan Ministries. For those who don’t know, Metropolitan Ministries is a non-profit organization that provides emergency housing, meals, job training, counseling, and case management for the homeless and at-risk individuals and families of Tampa, FL. They collaborate with various religious groups, community partners, and volunteers from diverse faith backgrounds to support individuals and families in need through empowerment of self-sufficiency.

We are looking to raise all donations by Christmas, as this will give us enough time to prepare and ensure we have the proper funds to make this mission possible for our departure flight to Tampa, FL, on January 3rd, 2025. As an incentive to gather these donations, if we are able to reach this goal, I will contribute $1,000 out-of-pocket as a way of expressing my gratitude for the help of the community!
