In loving memory of Scott Mitchell

Hello. On the 17th of June 2020 my dear friend Scott Mitchell tragically passed away at the age of 35, leaving behind a wife, Claire, and two young sons, Owen and Aaron.

I have set this fund up to try and provide some much needed funds to keep the family in their home and support the boys and their future.

Scott was a one of a kind person.  He was funny, kind, caring, protective, loyal… the list goes on. He was even prone to the odd Victor Meldrew style moment, which inadvertently kept us all entertained and has been the source of smiles and laughter as we reminisce to cherish memories of him.

I was lucky enough to call him my friend for 32 years. All of his friends and family knew he was the guy you called when you needed help, that he would be there for you without question. Scott lived his life with intention and dedication.  And he instilled that same sense of purpose in raising Owen and Aaron to become lovely young men.

Scott encouraged them to follow their passions in the way that only a father can. With Aaron, they shared an intense love of football (avid supporters of Spurs) and cooking. With Owen, a kind love for animals and a passion for flight as part of the Cadets.

Scott worked as a chef in a retirement care home providing good food for the elderly. In one of our last chats he told me how he would always to make sure he gave them a wave from within the kitchen just to make sure they knew there was someone thinking of them.  Scott would regularly work 6-7 days a week, selflessly motivated to provide for his family and offer Owen and Aaron a great future. But, as no one expects to be snatched from us at such an age, few provisions were made for this tragic turn of events.

Claire works for a school with children whom have learning difficulties and disabilities, which is a noble and rewarding job. However, she is being faced with the cold reality that it will be impossible to provide for her family without Scott. Let alone offer the boys the best opportunities they could possibly have and give Scott the legacy of knowing his boys have a bright future which he was working so hard to provide.

From my love for this family and my duty as a Godfather to the boys, I would like to ensure they have some financial stability and support in this terrible time and to hopefully provide something for his boy’s future. But I unfortunately cannot do it by myself so am asking for help.

The intention for this fund is to set up savings accounts for Owen and Aaron which they can use with the guidance of their family to further their education and chosen path in life. They will also then have the responsibility to help their mum pay the rent and bills when needed to ensure they can remain in their modest 2-bedroom home that holds so many cherished memories of their father.

I feel ashamed to be asking this of you in the current economic hardships of a global pandemic. However, the Mitchell family are family to me and I must do everything I can for them.  I have set a target simply to have a total which would really help Owen, Aaron and Claire, but would graciously appreciate any amount and any generosity you can spare.

Thank you with all my heart.
